Dear Parents,

 

Well it has been a busy week in PreK.  We have been camping, making smores grilling, going on nature walks and so much more.  Our animal theme is continuing this week.  We are talking about mammals, reptiles, birds and next week we will discuss amphibians.  Our caterpillars are eating and growing and are beginning to spin their chrysalis.  Soon we will have beautiful butterflies. This means new life in the classroom just as Jesus died for us and rose again to give us new life.

We are listening to beginning sounds with by 4 and 5 year olds getting ready for Kindergarten.  We have also introduced our heart words (sight words) and today we studied heart words a, I, the, see, and, me.  I will be sending these home next week to study.  Blends are something we have introduced also. A blend is when we take a consonant and vowel put them together and mix them up, ba, be bi bo bu is an example.  After sounding the blend we then add an ending sound to make words!

May will be a busy month.  We will begin our ocean theme, have May queen crowning and Mother's Day Tea on May 11.  On May 18th this will be PreK's last day of school, short end of the year program and field at the YMCA.  We will also be ordering our very own field day t-shirts.
